#Pineapple contains bromelain (a mix of proteolytic enzymes) vitamin C and manganese. It may have antioedematous, antiinflammatory, antithrombotic and fibrinolytic activities.
Although the evidence base is not hard, anecdotally it certainly works well in a number of disorders (Pavan R, Jain S, Shraddha, Kumar A. Properties and therapeutic application of bromelain: a review. Biotechnol Res Int. 2012;2012:976203. doi: 10.1155/2012/976203. Epub 2012 Dec 10. PubMed PMID: 23304525; PubMed Central PMCID: PMC3529416.) including in several people with oral malodour and there is some evidence it helps reduce oral postoperative pain/swelling (Majid OW, Al-Mashhadani BA. Perioperative bromelain reduces pain and swelling and improves quality of life measures after mandibular third molar surgery: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial.
